I recently came across a "100 country songs" list and felt like doing something like that too! Of course I'll not post all at once, because that sucks. So 5 lists of 20 will do! I'm pretty sure 100 won't be enough in the end, so I'll keep the option open to make it 1000 :p Kidding! Enjoy :)

You must know, this is neither a favourite-songs list, nor a favourite-song-of-this-artist list nor a top 20 of last week or anything like that.
They're random songs that I had on my mind & songs I recently discovered (which is why they were on my mind).
If you want to hear more from this or that artist/band you know what to do:
Youtube, Itunes, Amazon - whatever!
Or if you're nice and I'm nice you can ask for a few suggestions of this and that band, because I know how frustrating it can be when there's an artist with 10+ albums and you have to go through them all then.

I'll try to not repeat artists, but I don't know if that's going to work. I know I have the whole internet, to search for 100 country artists, but I'm from Germany and I'm not too much in touch with the country music community as I would be if I was from America, so I don't have the knowledge of where to search for good music and also not the time.
LIVE WITH IT. :)Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8117736888325925238.post-14357059247852281052012-05-22T13:05:00.001+02:002012-05-22T13:05:17.686+02:00Curtain Up: Greg Maroney

Greg Maroney is a very talented pianist I recently discovered on a tumblrblog. I immediately fell in love with "Breathe" and so I took a listen to the entire album. He actually has 10 complete CDs but I didn't have the time for everything yet so I'll just show you one for now.
It's fantastic and when you love piano music, you'll love it too. If you don't like piano music, I don't like you.
I really miss playing myself.
Sadly not all songs are available on YT or his website for listening.
I hope you guys enjoy him as much as I do.
I think I found a camera! WOWOWOWOOO :)
It's a Nikon though :/
Not trying to say Canon is SO MUCH BETTER or something, I'm just used to Canon and it's more of a personal thing. And after the examples I posted yesterday, well, Nikon is simply better in this category I guess. Especially when it comes to prices.

But let me show you!
I don't know about you, but this is insane! It's a 12MP, 4x optical zoom, Full HD digicam and I would have never expected results like those!

VIDEO EXAMPLE

This little baby totally convinced me.
Although I will probably buy the 310. For 282€. Simply because the 310 is IS, while the 300 isn't. The 310 has 16MP but let's be honest, from 10MP on the MP number is just a customer catcher or however you say that in english.

Check this picture for a comparison. (Left = 300)
As you can see the difference is minimal. Basically it can almost not be seen with the naked eye.

I already told you that I don't care about guest reviews on amazon, because it's nothing new that companies pay people for writing rave reviews for them, but still do I take a look at them here and there. This new "Amazon verified purchase" feature is quite nice actually. It doesn't mean the review is 100% true, it just says, it's a real person at least lol.

It's quite curious, that people there compare the 300 and the 310 with advantages and disadvantages without mentioning the IS, but have all the time in the world to talk about how the flash is so nice because it is placed where 'he' doesn't put his finger. That's a SUPER important criteria for buying a camera. Really.
So much for that.

Anyways, a lot of people on there have criticised the Canon digis for exactly what I was telling you the other day. They're pretty useless, altogether.

It actually kinda hurts to pay 60€ more for basically the same camera but I know IS is worth the money. My 50/1.8 for example isn't IS and that can be annoying. I'm pretty good at handheld pictures, but there are moments when you just can't help it. Maybe it's cold and you freeze or the ground is lumpy and you have troubles finding your balance etc. So yeah. 300€ was the maximum I wanted to pay and yeah of course I'm at the limit now. It's always the same.

Also is it always the same that the GOOD cameras can only be bought in black and white. -___- Not even silver. Such a bummer. White looks cheap so I'll be boring and take it in black. I have a feeling it will be just like it was with my Motorola RAZR v3i. When I got that phone a century ago it was ONLY available in black. Because it was new. Not even 2months later you could buy it in almost every colour. Gosh I was so pissed lol.

I hope I could help one or two people to find a new digicam for an acceptable price. Just glad I can send it back to amazon if it turns out to be useless. I'll write a review as soon as the cam is here of course!

Sometimes I'm such a nit! I was so focused on the PowerShot that I totally forgot the IXUS -__-
So here goes another camreview for the IXUS!

To make it a little shorter: Prices vary alot. From 190€-350€ to be exactly.
From the amount of pictures you can probably already tell that I'm kinda impressed. The macro pictures are fantastic! Just when it comes to view, especially dark view the cam is, well not useless, but hard to like. Okay maybe useless.
Touch Display btw. I imagine this to be annoying as hell.
OKAY. In the end: Eitehr I'm super spoilt or all cameras except DSLRs are bad. I can't help it. None of them convinced me. All of these cameras say "Full HD Video" - my ass. Seriously look at the example videos, made by normal people. So bad.
I would go search further for cameras now, but my eyes are burning and my head will soon start exploding, so.. that's it for now.

A new entry after a while and it's going to be about cameras. You know, I have my Canon EOS D600 and we're completely in love and so on and so on. That's not the problem. The problem is that I don't have the money for wide & macro lens at the moment. I could of course just buy cheap ones, just to have them at least, but that makes no sense at all. I made that mistake already with the tele and I'm not going to do that again. So new lens start somewhere at 600€ with luck and so I thought about getting myself a nice digicam with which I can do both. I know the results won't be as good as with the D600 and I'll have to do lots of edits afterwards BUT I have no choice I guess.
So anyways, I was asked the other day if I would have a nice idea for someone who doesn't want to carry the big camera around all the time, what is also a reason for me to get a new digicam as well.
Earlier this year I read some reviews for new released digicams and only read the best about a Canon Power Shot XXXXXX. And so yeah, there's this problem, I don't remember the number. Only thing is, I knew it was an A XXXX.
But it can't be too bad to take a look at the other digicams too, so here comes yet another camera comparison.

Just don't expect too much, it's disappointing.

First cam I looked at was the Canon Power Shot S100. Yumm! Such a nice camera. 12MP, 5x optical zoom, Full HD Video, GPS (uhm.. whyever), IS.

Example C (5cm macro / no other infos)

So far so good hu?

Example D (No info)
Example E (RAW / no flash / AV mode / 8.0 [Weird settings anyway..])
Example F (No info)

Not so good anymore.

Some other shots with the S100 from Flickr.

I guess here it is like it is everywhere, The item is just as good as the user. So afterall I would definitely choose this camera if I was willing to pay over 400€. What I am not, lol. I mean seriously, my D600 body was 550€ + 2 lens and stuff all in all somewhere at 900€ and well, it's WAY better. So as good as the camera is, I wouldn't pay 400€ for it.

--------------

After I checked some Canon PowerShot SX HS/IS and oh well. I don't even want to say too much, they're not worth the money.

Example A 130 IS What's this shimmer anyway? It's on a lot of pictures from that stream with the 130.
Example B 230 HS Mixed feelings about this one.
Example C 230 HS
Example D 230 HS Sorry but no.

----------------

ALRIGHT. Now let's come to the cameras I actually consider. The A-series.

Canon PowerShot A3400 IS: 16MP, 5x optical zoom, IS 147€

Example A I'm sorry but I have troubles blaming the camera here. My phone cam takes better pictures so I really don't know what happened here. Info says tripod + flash. Weird.
Example B Much better! Info says auto-mode, no further edits. I'm not stoked, but also not too disappointed for a 140€ cam.
Example C No info but it looks pretty much like a RAW.

Since the Canon PowerShot A4000 IS 152€ has practically the same stats except for a little more weight and size I guess the pictures will be similar. The only difference is that the A3400 has 3cm macro while the A4000 has 1cm. The A4000 is/was actually my choice, but I'm not too sure since I can't find ANY example photographies anywhere.

When I check the entire A-series the 4000 is simply the best. It's also the last released. The smaller the number behind the A the worse the camera.

All other Canon digicams that have an acceptable quality start at 350€ what would be the SX40 HS.

Example A
Example B
Example C
Example D

Can't see why this cam should be worth the money though.

I'm still really stuck and maybe I should consider checking some Nikons or even Sony. Although I'm still pro A4000 :)

Well anyway I hope this was helpful and if you have a good recommendation for me, don't hesitate to tell me dear!
Maybe I'm just too spoilt from the D600, but most pictures look like they've been taking with a phone cam....

In 2004, The New York Times wrote an article about the loneliest whale in the world. Scientists have been tracking her since 1992 and they discovered the problem:
She isn’t like any other baleen whale. Unlike all other whales, she doesn’t have friends. She doesn’t have a family. She doesn’t belong to any tribe, pack or gang. She doesn’t have a lover. She never had one. Her songs come in groups of two to six calls, lasting for five to six seconds each. But her voice is unlike any other baleen whale. It is unique—while the rest of her kind communicate between 12 and 25hz, she sings at 52hz. You see, that’s precisely the problem. No other whales can hear her. Every one of her desperate calls to communicate remains unanswered. Each cry ignored. And, with every lonely song, she becomes sadder and more frustrated, her notes going deeper in despair as the years go by.
Just imagine that massive mammal, floating alone and singing—too big to connect with any of the beings it passes, feeling paradoxically small in the vast stretches of empty, open ocean.
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8117736888325925238.post-42024652026032818032012-03-13T14:16:00.000+01:002012-03-13T14:16:05.029+01:00Ugly, the resident tomcat.

Everyone in the apartment complex I lived in knew who Ugly was. Ugly was the resident tomcat.

Ugly loved three things in this world: fighting, eating garbage, and shall we say, love. The combination of these things combined with a life spent outside had their effect on Ugly.
To start with, he had only one eye, and where the other should have been was a gaping hole. He was also missing his ear on the same side, his left foot has appeared to have been badly broken at one time, and had healed at an unnatural angle, making him look like he was always turning the corner. His tail has long since been lost, leaving only the smallest stub, which he would constantly jerk and twitch. Ugly would have been a dark gray tabby striped-type, except for the sores covering his head, neck, even his shoulders with thick, yellowing scabs.
Every time someone saw Ugly there was the same reaction. “That’s one UGLY cat!!”
All the children were warned not to touch him, the adults threw rocks at him, hosed him down, squirted him when he tried to come in their homes, or shut his paws in the door when he would not leave.
Ugly always had the same reaction. If you turned the hose on him, he would stand there, getting soaked until you gave up and quit. If you threw things at him, he would curl his lanky body around feet in forgiveness. Whenever he spied children, he would come running meowing frantically and bump his head against their hands, begging for their love. If you ever picked him up he would immediately begin suckling on your shirt, earrings, whatever he could find.
One day Ugly shared his love with the neighbors huskies. They did not respond kindly, and Ugly was badly mauled. From my apartment I could hear his screams, and I tried to rush to his aid. By the time I got to where he was laying, it was apparent Ugly’s sad life was almost at an end.
Ugly lay in a wet circle, his back legs and lower back twisted grossly out of shape, a gaping tear in the white strip of fur that ran down his front. As I picked him up and tried to carry him home I could hear him wheezing and gasping, and could feel him struggling. I must be hurting him terribly I thought.
Then I felt a familiar tugging, sucking sensation on my ear - Ugly, in so much pain, suffering and obviously dying was trying to suckle my ear. I pulled him closer to me, and he bumped the palm of my hand with his head, then he turned his one golden eye towards me, and I could hear the distinct sound of purring. Even in the greatest pain, that ugly battled-scarred cat was asking only for a little affection, perhaps some compassion.
At that moment I thought Ugly was the most beautiful, loving creature I had ever seen. Never once did he try to bite or scratch me, or even try to get away from me, or struggle in any way. Ugly just looked up at me completely trusting in me to relieve his pain.
Ugly died in my arms before I could get inside, but I sat and held him for a long time afterwards, thinking about how one scarred, deformed little stray could so alter my opinion about what it means to have true pureness of spirit, to love so totally and truly. Ugly taught me more about giving and compassion than a thousand books, lectures, or talk show specials ever could, and for that I will always be thankful. He had been scarred on the outside, but I was scarred on the inside, and it was time for me to move on and learn to love truly and deeply. To give my total to those I cared for.

Many people want to be richer, more successful, well liked, beautiful, but for me, I will always try to be Ugly.

So, I don't really have much to say. He's a country artist, looks extremely sexy, has an amazing voice and makes good music! Uh yeah and I have a big crush on him, haha. As far as I know does he write all his songs himself, what also makes him a very talented songwriter! He released two studio albums and I want to show you now! Hope you enjoy, because I do! Mucho! So glad I discovered him..
About 48,000 houses in the Victorian and Edwardian styles were built in San Francisco between 1849 and 1915 (with the change from Victorian to Edwardian occurring on the death of Queen Victoria in 1901), and many were painted in bright colors. As one newspaper critic noted in 1885, "...red, yellow, chocolate, orange, everything that is loud is in fashion...if the upper stories are not of red or blue... they are painted up into uncouth panels of yellow and brown..."While many of the mansions of Nob Hill were destroyed by the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake, thousands of the mass-produced, more modest houses survived in the western and southern neighborhoods of the city.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0San Francisco, CA, USA37.7749295 -122.4194155000000137.7206295 -122.50881550000001 37.8292295 -122.33001550000002tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8117736888325925238.post-77709682915288935672011-06-28T23:34:00.000+02:002011-06-28T23:34:56.942+02:00The little boy in the target store.I came across this super sad story a week ago and now decided to share it also here on this blog. I totally burst into tears, so have your tissues ready when you read this story. Really heartbreaking. And it should finally give everyone the last reason to NEVER EVER drink and drive.

"I was walking around in a Target store, when I saw a cashier hand this little boy some money back. The boy couldn’t have been more than 5 or 6 years old. The cashier said, “I’m sorry, but you don’t have enough money to buy this doll.” Then the little boy turned to the old woman next to him: ”Granny, are you sure I don’t have enough money?” The old lady replied: ”You know that you don’t have enough money to buy this doll, my dear.” Then she asked him to stay there for just 5 minutes while she went to look a round. She left quickly. The little boy was still holding the doll in his hand. Finally, I walked toward him and I asked him who he wished to give this doll to. “It’s the doll that my sister loved most and wanted so much for Christmas. She was sure that Santa Claus would bring it to her.” I replied to him that maybe Santa Claus would bring it to her afterall, and not to worry. But he replied to me sadly. “No, Santa Claus can’t bring it to her where she is now. I have to give the doll to my mommy so that she can give it to my sister when she goes there.” His eyes were so sad while saying this. “My sister has gone to be with God. Daddy says that Mommy is going to see God very soon too, so I thought that she could take the doll with her to give it to my sister.” My heart nearly stopped. The little boy looked up at me and said: “I told daddy to tell mommy not to go yet. I need her to wait until I come back from the mall.” Then he showed me a very nice photo of him where he was laughing. He then told me “I want mommy to take my picture with her so she won’t forget me. I love my mommy and I wish she doesn’t have to leave me, but daddy says that she has to go to be with my little sister.” Then he looked again at the doll with sad eyes, very quietly. I quickly reached for my wallet and said to the boy. “Suppose we check again, just in case you do have enough money for the doll?” “OK,” he said, “I hope I do have enough.” I added some of my money to his without him seeing and we started to count it. There was enough for the doll and even some spare money. The little boy said: “Thank you God for giving me enough money!” Then he looked at me and added, “I asked last night before I went to sleep for God to make sure I had enough money to buy this doll, so that mommy could give it to my sister. He heard me!” “I also wanted to have enough money to buy a white rose for my mommy, but I didn’t dare to ask God for too much. But He gave me enough to buy the doll and a white rose.” “My mommy loves white roses.” A few minutes later, the old lady returned and I left with my basket. I finished my shopping in a totally different state from when I started. I couldn’t get the little boy out of my mind. Then I remembered a local newspaper article two days ago, which mentioned a drunk man in a truck, who hit a car occupied by a young woman and a little girl. The little girl died right away, and the mother was left in a critical state. The family had to decide whether to pull the plug on the life-sustaining machine, because the young woman would not be able to recover from the coma. Was this the family of the little boy? Two days after this encounter with the little boy, I read in the newspaper that the young woman had passed away. I couldn’t stop myself as I bought a bunch of white roses and I went to the funeral home where the body of the young woman was exposed for people to see and make last wishes before her burial. She was there, in her coffin, holding a beautiful white rose in her hand with the photo of the little boy and the doll placed over her chest. I left the place, teary-eyed, feeling that my life had been changed forever.. The love that the little boy had for his mother and his sister is still, to this day, hard to imagine. And in a fraction of a second, a drunk driver had taken all this away from him."
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8117736888325925238.post-30584489013652075322011-06-25T19:47:00.005+02:002012-07-20T19:28:36.714+02:00Recipe: Banana Ice Coffee ShakeI tried a new shake yesterday and because I think it's so awesome I'll share it with you! It's not my own creation, I found the recipe on the back of an Ice Coffee tin! I guess it can be made with any powder, as long as it's for mixing with milk and nothing else.

Banana Ice Coffee Shake

Ingredients for 2 shakes:
250-300ml milk (originally 200ml)
1 banana
2 tablespoons natural yogurt
3 tablespoons Ice Coffee powder (originally 4-5)
Ice cubes

How to:
Purée the banana and the yogurt either with an immersion blender or with a milkshake mixer. Whatever you have.
Add the milk and shake it again. Only THEN add the powder.
Fill a few ice cubes into a glass and add your shake.
DONE!
Bon appétit!

If you want you can decorate it with chocolate crumbs..

With skim milk it comes to 485kcal. 242,5 for each! Be sure a shake makes you full! Awesome breakfast for hot summer days. When you don't eat the rest of the yogurt it's a bit less. 215~ each maybe. :)Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8117736888325925238.post-41176465266348901402011-06-15T00:05:00.000+02:002011-06-15T00:05:56.611+02:00Water for ElephantsThere's a new movie with Reese Witherspoon & Robert Pattinson out for a month now or so, called "Water for Elephants". I just want to tell you: Don't watch the movie.
But not because I think it sucks, even though it kinda does in regard of what you see next....

Further information:

Video released by Animal Defenders International shows the elephant that appears alongside Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson in the new film Water for Elephants, being beaten and electric-shocked during training.

Water for Elephants, a romantic drama set in a 1930s animal circus in the USA, starring Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson, is premiering all over the world this month, with the London Premier last Tuesday. But the biggest star of the film is 42-year-old Asian elephant Tai, who plays Rosie, supplied by the performing animal supplier Have Trunk Will Travel, of California.

In the film Rosie, played by Tai, is brutally attacked by the circus owner who beats her with a bull hook. But the producers, stars, and trainers have been at pains to stress that Tai was trained with kindness, marshmallows, and positive reinforcement.

Gary Johnson, a founder of Have Trunk Will Travel claimed: “Tai was never hit in any way at all”.

American Humane observed the animal action during filming and said: “We’re here observing prep on Water for Elephants and so we’re here to make sure that everybody knows that not only the action on set but also the prep is humanely done, all these animals have been treated fairly and humanely throughout the entire course of their training.”

However shocking video, filmed at Have Trunk Will Travel in 2005, has been posted online by Animal Defenders International (ADI) after the London premier, that tells a different story.

- Elephants including Tai are repeatedly given electric shocks with hand held stun guns
- Tai cries out when being shocked into performing a headstand
- Elephants including Tai are beaten about the body and legs with bull hooks
- A baby elephant is hooked in the lip and cries out
- An elephant is pinned with bull hooks whilst her tusks are sawn down, close to the bone

Jan Creamer, Chief Executive of ADI said: “We were uncomfortable with the message of this film, but the more we saw the repeated assertions that this elephant has been treated with love and affection and never been abused, we realized that we had to get the truth out. The public, the stars and the filmmakers have been duped. This poor elephant was trained to do the very tricks you see in the film by being given electric shocks.”
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8117736888325925238.post-82437778106213881742011-06-14T12:21:00.001+02:002011-06-14T12:22:05.815+02:00Public Enemies IIA looong time ago I wrote a review about the movie with Johnny, and now I finally translated it into english, so all my international readers can read my opinion about that movie too!
Enjoy! :)
Finally. But I'm less excited, even though my future ex husband & Christian Bale star in it. They don't save it. Johnny looks incredibly good in the movie but he has no chance to show us his acting talent. Almost every other actor could have played the role, the movie wouldn't have gotten better or worse. Apparently Michael Mann took too much in his hands, when he planned to go into detail from the view of the police department as well as from the view of the gangster. No side really has a chance and additionally you can't keep track of all characters. Too many are involved in the game and appear here and there for two minutes. I can only mention the two protagonists by name and also among the characters it ends there.
It should be added that this movie has the worst dialogues I've ever heard. Can only be topped by porn movies.
You also shouldn't expect any tension. First: You already know the end before you start watching. Second: You know the whole story. Third: Well, it just didn't happen to establish it. Probably because of too much content what results in lacking space or rather lacking minutes.
The dimmed light all through the movie is annoying. They obviously tried to adapt it to old movies from that time which are always very dark what makes us believe the world was darker back then, but the scenes at night are way too low-key. Especially because you already have problems with identifying all persons and who belongs to who, so when they run around by night all you can see are hats and you can only guess who's dead and who's not. That's probably because the movie was filmed fully digital.
For the rest we have many many gunfights as it is proper in a gangster movie. Sometimes it may look like too much, because as I already said, both sides don't get a real chance and then they "waste" much time on shootings, but it's easy to take.
What else to say? The lovestory is actually not worth mentioning. Theatrical treated. For the story itself it's of course inevitable. It's just all very unlovingly. The interactions between Johnny and Marion Cotillard appear very cold, stingy and insincere. They just had to put it into the movie....
But besides that, Johnny as well as Christian do look very good in their roles. By that I don't mean their shape, but the character. Christian Bale plays a very withdrawn and thoughtful detective and that's what we already know from American Psycho & Equilibrium. Johnny Depp cuts quite a figure as a stony-faced macho gangster.
There's one scene in the prison, at John Dillingers second detention, in which the two protagonists meet. For me, personally, the best scene of the movie because we have a connection between the two sides and Johnny for once has the opportunity to show us his unique talent. Sadly too short. (He has to break out again what requires much time.)
I can't say very much to the music because I didn't notice any except when they're in a bar and dance. But I know there is music!
Apart from that there's nothing more to say. I wouldn't entrust this movie to anyone, except you're keen on a very very good looking Johnny Depp. If you want to watch a good gangster movie you should choose "The Untouchables" or "Hoodlum". Although Hoodlum isn't that good, but has so many incredible actors in it.
And the moral of the story:
There's actually not much to say for me right now. They have one album which can be filed under alternative Rock / post-grunge. According to their FaceBook the second album will be released soon. Maybe June/July.
I only needed one listen to become a fan and I hope I'm not the only one. They're really great, sadly totally underrated.

Haven't done a Curtain Up in a long time and also wanted to do a Curtain Up for Mr. Wertz for a long time, so here we go! He just released a new album in March so there couldn't be a better time to introduce this jewel to you!
I would describe his music as Acoustic(-Rock) with here and there a little bit Pop. But actually his genre is "Awesome", "Amazing" & "At The Top". But that's just me.
What else can I tell you? When you listen to his songs you will hear lyrics you have never ever heard before. What do I mean by that? I mean that when we take a listen to the "big" artists in the business we can find mostly the same way a story is told. Just check some Rihanna, Katy Perry, Britney Spears and-so-on lyrics and you will see that they all have something in common: unimaginative lyrics. There's always a girl and a boy and one is happy and the other is sad and then there is some sex and to make it all good they go to parties. To make it short. The situation is different with Matt Wertz. Of course there are also lovestories and girls and boys and so on, but he takes something absolutely ordinary and makes it special. But you can convince yourself soon!
Here's a little advise from me: Don't start in the middle. I will intentionally add the links now in the order the albums were released and you really should follow this. Why? Because señor Wertz is one of those artists that do it better with every album. He grows with every album and you won't notice when you listen every which way. But maybe you don't care about that, then feel free to start wherever you want.
(Let me know if there are problems with the links.)
I actually wanted to show you of course my favorites or simply the best ones, but it's kind of really hard to find links to all songs, so in the end I picked the videos/links I could find. I know the quality is sometimes a bit ew, but better than nothing!
There are different versions of some songs, but I couldn't manage to find them all. I was happy enough to even find one. ;)
He also has 2 Live Recordings if I remember right and another EP called "Where we started", but the EP contains just different versions (I guess) and one additional song which I couldn't find of course.

Enjoy!!
I'm impressed! Check her stream again if you don't remember her photos! Only with the 50mm lenses? Amazing. Want to buy the cam NOW! Haha.
All leveled criticism is against the camera and/or the lens!! Please keep that in mind when reading.)

Last night before I went to bed I had an idea about how to check more from the two cams: Flickr!
Some people tag their pictures with the camera + lens they used so I searched for D60 & D600! Have to say it was enlightening. At least at first.

D600:

Photostream from Richieempire
The first stream I came across. According to the Tags, señor Richie uses the Canon EOS D600 Kit with EF-S 18-55mm 1:3,5-5,6 IS II and probably spent 849,00€.
Because we all see the same stream I guess we can agree on that the lenses aren't bad, but when it's about landscape they seem useless. Maybe except this one. I really like the picture.
For the rest: We notice the bad light intensity, but actually that is what the cam is praised for. On the other hand we have to consider that we only have 55mm at maximum with these lenses, what is almost the same as the human eye. So when we look at this picture - would we see more with our naked eyes? No, I don't think so.
In this stream we have a cool opportunity to compare the cam:
Black & White I vs. Black & White II.
One is outside, landscape, sunlight, daylight (maybe moving object) - the other one inside, one lightsource, non-moving object.
My conclusion: The standard lens aren't bad for ~110€ as long as you use them indoor. For outdoor use they're IMHO useless.
Addition: I don't know what other settings have been made. Keyword: ISO.

Photostream from Johnny Ostberg
The tags say: Canon EOS D600 with 17-55mm 2,8 lens. Remember? According to profis these are THE lens.
First picture already proves them right! Guess this picture compared to the other outdoor pictures from Richie tells us alot about how important the light intensity value is.
Another picture taken with the ultimate lenses. Even though we still only have a 55mm maximum the quality of these lenses is undeniable.
Take a look at this beautiful picture. I know it's not the 600D but the same lens and the 450D so the same line! Amazing.
PS Generally have I found here a very very talented photographer, so check his other stuff & add him! :) (At least to your bookmarks if you don't use Flickr!)
Here as well: No information about other settings.
When I choose this "set" with the Tamron lens: 1115,90€

Photostream from меемz ρнотоgяаρну
Canon EOS D600

Okay, enough about the 600D for now. Here comes the 60D.

D60:

Photostream of Nux Pix
Canon EOS D60 with EF-S 18-135mm IS
At night with one light source. Looks beautiful to me.
Daylight, very sunny. I, personally, don't like the picture. It's a bit blinding if you ask me. Background details are hard to see. This picture has no lens tag, so I can't tell what lens exactly are used here but I guess the same as in all others.
Another daylight shot. Grey day with some extra settings as we can see. Focus is the white whateveritis and the rest is blurry. Doesn't really convince me. What about you? Again no lens-tag.
Very chaotic environment. I'm muchly surprised. I know he says it's hand-held but isn't a camera always hand-held?! Additionally the lens are IS so how can that happen? At first I thought it's maybe on purpose but it actually doesn't look like that. (I feel so mean judging this poor man that just wants to take some pictures :( But I'm searching for a cam, so I have to!) I have to say this picture tells me a lot about the lens because we have so many things. Very colorful, many light sources etc pp.
Another chaotic one. Very nice for checking out the lens. Look at the written pieces of paper and the light in the background. That reminds me alot of my phone cam. You know why that's bothering me? Because the 500D, my first choice half a year ago, advertises with the light intensity especially when it's about faint light and now check the picture again. Of course we don't have faint light with all the lamps but isn't that the reason why the picture actually should be AWESOME? I'm irritated. But as I said - these are the other standard lens you can buy. Not very popular afaik.
A good example for moving objects. Actually the market was also a good example for that - but animals are always a bit different to photograph. Happy with this but unhappy with this.
EF 100mm f/2,8 lens. I like this picture. It's a nice contrast with the white snow and the red berries, but I don't think the cam 'embraced' it completely. Can be seen when you look at the picture in the biggest size. But maybe the ISO is too high, I don't know. Or maybe I have looked at too many pictures today.
I don't only want to say negative things, so here's a very very beautiful shot with the 18-135mm standard lens. The sunrays are so beautiful here and the angle is perfectly chosen. This on the contrary doesn't please me.
I dislike the scene as well as the picture itself. Here we have 55-250mm lens. Prove me wrong but aren't these lenses for far away objects? So why is this picture like it is? Is the photographer to blame?
Okay, enough of this stream although we here have a lot of lenses to see.

Photostream of bishop_482
Canon EOS D60
I don't know about the lens that are used here but maybe someone can recognize them here? Haha! ;)
Because laziness is setting in (yeah, I'm surprised too it took so long!) I will not post another bunch of pictures now and just leave you here with the stream - that I btw dislike in regard of the camera. Especially this one disappoints me much. Remember the thing with the faint light and so on? So what's this? But maybe wrong settings, I don't know. Here as well. Weird.

Photostream of ReeseFIVE
Canon EOS D60 with EF-S 18-55mm IS
LIKE! Faint light and look what the camera has made of it!
And now take a look at this picture! What a HUGE SURPRISE! Why? Check the lens! Can you believe that? I can't. How is that possible? The colors etc are amazing in this shot! With 110€ lens. Remember the others in my first stream? What a difference! I'm a bit open-mouthed. There are some more pictures with these lens you can check out in the stream. Really different compared to this.

__________________________________________________________________________________

Either the difference between the two cameras is higher than I thought or it's as always: The camera is only as good as the photographer.
Like I would buy a Lamborghini to drive to the supermarket.

My newest consideration is:
Canon EOS 600D body = 729,00€
+ Tamron SP AF 17-50mm 2,8 Di II VC = 386,90€
+ Tamron 18-270mm F/3,5-6,3 Di II VC LD ASL IF Macro = 379,00€
+ Canon EF 50mm/ 1,8 = 111,11€ (I know 30minutes earlier it was 40cent more!)
Total: 1606,01€

(Of course the Tamron are working with Canon.)

MAYBE the 18-270 will be replaced by Tamron 18-270mm F/3,5-6,3 Di II VC PZD (529,00€). It's simply a better version of the mentioned above I just have to figure out if it's worth the 150€.
But I'll do that another time!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8117736888325925238.post-90726491721593504422011-04-19T23:25:00.000+02:002011-04-20T18:42:33.153+02:00Camera!Mentioned it one or two times already that I'm planning to buy a new cam finally. Back in November 2010, when I started searching for a new one for the first time, I laid eyes on the Canon EOS 500D and til today I stuck with that decision.
I had nothing better to do, so I thought I check if we have some new reviews of that camera and guess what, I found one or another. I don't want to say they pulled the cam to pieces but compared to the Canon EOS 450D the 500D is apparently not worth the ~300€ difference.
Of course, I could make it easy and just buy the Canon 5D MKII SLR for around 2,000€ and have probably the 2nd best camera available at this time then. But wow, no thanks. I simply don't need a camera like that as a hobby photographer.
So I checked the Canon EOS 60D. Allegedly it's like the 500D just a bit better and because of that a bit more expensive of course. From the stats I would agree with that, so I actually already changed my mind to then check the 60D a bit better til I found a review 60D vs. 550D that says the 550D is better. Yay for confusion!
From some other 60D reviews I came across the EOS 600D then! Wow.. how often do they create new models?! Every month? Silly, silly people!
Okay what we can definitely say is that the 600D is better than the 500D! :) So this one is cancelled.
But there's still the 60D. So 60D vs. 600D.
Basically they aren't very different from each other. To be exactly they're kind of the same. They have some minimal differences like one has 97% of this and that while the other one has "only" 96%. Don't think that makes a big difference! But I'm a newbie, prove me wrong if I am. :)
What is remarkable is that the 60D has more extras. Means you have more settings what means more individuality as well as more accessoiries. But not sure if that is important to me. Another remarkable thing is the size/weight. Here wins the 600D by far. To show you what I mean:
60D: 144,5 x 105,8 x 78,6 mm / 755g (incl. battery)
600D: 133,1 x 99,5 x 79,7 mm / 570g (incl. battery)
At first sight this may not seem like much, but especially the weight will be noticed when you have to carry the cam around for a longer time or even have to hold it up for a long time when you're waiting for something to happen. Additionally we shouldn't forget my own height of 5'4, thus small hands. ;)
I guess you can see that I kinda already made a decision...
But there's something else we have to keep in mind: The price.
Let's have a look:
60D body: 999,00€
600D body: 729,00€
(Don't know about you, but that's already confusing me. Especially because the 600D is new while the 60D is available since October '10. So actually it should be the other way..?)
But because I'm a newbie to these cameras I of course don't have lens lying around here. And HERE comes the BIG problem. You can almost always buy the basic set Cambody+EF-S 18-55mm lens for 800€~. What is actually a nice price when you're starting with these cams. But according to some experienced photographers the 18-55mm is useless because... I don't know. Sure, you can take pictures with the lens as well but those profis rarely use them. One wrote that the EF-S 17-55 are WAY better.
And know I'm completely irritated. Why is a EF-S 17-55/2,8/IS SOGOOD and a EF-S 18-55/3,5-5,6/IS SOBAD? I don't get it. Guess here speaks the newbie in me. I can see a difference and I know that it's the light intensity and I also know that the 2,8 is better than 3,5-5,6 but is that worth a 700€ difference?
Yes you read right.
The 17-55mm costs 849,97€ while the 18-55mm costs 109,99€. ...
I simply hope one of my blogreaders knows why that is. Oh and yes, they're both original Canon lens. There's also a Tamron SP AF 17-50mm 2,8 Di II VC for Canon cameras available for 386,90€. Feels already a bit better! haha! Of course also IS!!!
I checked the stats of both and also have to mention that the Tamron seems better. The minimum distance of the Canon lens to an object amounts to 35cm (what is much to me for "profi" lens) while the Tamron lens have a minimal distance of 29cm. The reviews for the Canon lens say almost the same: Testers are unhappy.
I guess there is something what's better with the Canon, but I'm a newbie and I have no idea about that and I'm not sure if that is then worth 400€.
Okay let's have an interim result:
Canon EOS 600D body + Tamron SP AF 17-50mm 2,8 Di II VC IS = 1115,90€
Canon EOS 600D Set (body + Canon EF-S 18-55mm 1:3,5-5,6 IS II) = 849,00€
Canon EOS 600D Set II (body + Canon EF-S 18-135mm 1:3,5-5,6 IS) = 1084,99€
Canon EOS 600D Set III (body + Canon EF-S 18-55 IS II & EF-S 55-250 IS) = 1099,00€

Do you guys understand my problem? I guess so.
It actually wouldn't make much sense to buy anything else that the first option when it's about quality, but I think it's a bit compelling when you can have two lenses for less money than one lens. But on the other hand both lenses are probably bad? So it's a waste of money. Best thing to do: Stay with option 1, right?

But what comes after? I mean the next lenses? Took a look at some 50-xxmm but the light intensity looks crappy. Except the L-Series, but an L-lens is more expensive than the whole camera lol. But well, I guess the basic lens are enought for the first time.
If anyone has suggestions about what I should change or what would be better etc etc, just tell me. It will take some time til I'll order it.

I'm sorry for the long entry. If you arrived here, thanks for reading! I love you! :)

EDIT:
Now I understand why the standard lens Canon EF-S 18-55mm 1:3,5-5,6 IS II suck.
I guess I speak for all of us when I say: Ew.
But I don't know how the results are when you minimize them. Doesn't look like they tested much with the cam/lens. Or maybe it's an untalented photographer. I don't know. I just know that these pictures are ew.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
