The Grammy Awards - 53rd Annual

Jup, we had another Grammy Award Show last night. And of course I have to make a review now. Red carpet check, nominees, winners & live acts! It's going to be really exhaustive to do this post now because my left arm is bandaged from hand to elbow. Quite difficult to type. But no worries, I'm fine.

Because shows like these always start with the red carpet, I'll start with it too! I picked all pictures from HuffingtonPost except Gaga's. Funny thing is, that Huffington Post split the celebrities into "Worst dress" and "Best dress" and I would easily change it completely. But we all know: Tastes differ.
Let's start with my highlights from the red carpet. Dresses I would love to rip off:

Somebody pinch me!!!! OMJ? That dress is FANTASTIC! Worn by Bonnie McKee. HuffPost filed it under worst. Can't understand that. It's hypnotizing to me! I love orange & I love orange dresses! And it additionally fits extremely good to her hair color. It's all in all a very very nice combination! Except the purse maybe but nobody looks at purses!!! I have no idea who the designer is but never mind. I couldn't afford it. But I waaaaant it so bad!

A very ..special.. dress, true. From HuffPost also filed under worst but I think Esperanza Spalding looked really good in it. A nice mix of shades of green, very pleasant to the eye but maybe a bit wild. Folds are always nice to watch dresses/skirts playing with the wind and especially let the pieces suit to your moves but here we may have a few too many. But it looks so fluffy and I really like it though! Nevertheless it has to be said: The shoes kinda kill the dress. Not the best choice of color.

This dress, worn by Jenna Ushkowitz, is one of those I'm not sure to whether like or not. But I guess the problem here is, that I don't think it suits Ms. Ushkowitz very good. She has a beautiful body but it's not the kind of body that should wear a dress like that. It's a bit too wild and confusing on her. But the dress itself looks really good imho though I would prefer to see it in a photo shoot with a model where you can focus on the dress.

Another dress from the worst dresses according to HuffPost. And another choice I absolutely can't understand. Mrs Nicole Kidman Urban wore a fantastic dress that cajoles her perfectly! It radiates quiet and rush at the same time and I really dig that. Together with her softly curled hair it looks amazing! Although I would have chosen a different bracelet and/or a purse to that or maybe a necklace. Something to spice it a bit up.

I don't really like him, or rather his music, but Mr Justin Bieber looks really really good in this Dolce & Gabbana suit doesn't he? Don't even think about saying "no" because you know he does! Not least because the suit itself is very beautiful. I'm normally not a big fan of Sneaker's to such outfits, but he's a 16yr old boy and I guess this was the right decision. Everything else would have looked overdressed.

My dearly beloved Eva Longoria. Stunning. Nothing else to say. She could walk the red carpet in a potato bag and would steal the show. I not only want to rip her dress off, no, I want to rip HER off. Off the carpet and take her home. No lie.
I like her hair actually more when it's open but no, I'm not complaining. BEAUTIFUL. I want to be her.

The male counterpart to Eva. Didn't he look GORGEOUS? Okay John Mayer always looks gorgeous, but this is really really beautiful, isn't it? Some said he would be stealing Johnny Depp's look?! Don't think so. They probably have never seen this Johnny back in 2006. Nearly the same. Amazing.

Probably no surprise for anyone that I totally DIG this dress, Kelly Osbourne wore last night. Jeeeeez! Gimme, gimme, gimme! If I think Kelly wore it good? No. Have to say that. Blond hair to a dress in lilac? No, thanks. Blond doesn't go with everything compared with brown hair. When you have brown hair you can wear every color. There are absolutely no exceptions, but as a blond you have limits. And this is one of them. Sorry, Kelly.

This is a bit like Jenna Ushkowitz' dress. I don't dislike it, but also can't say I really do like it. And I'm also not sure if Keri Hilson looks good in it. I think it's a bit short... and too anxious. On the one hand we have the pattern that is already very hectic, but it also wrinkles up what makes it even more hectic. However, the way she wore it was right. Shoes, purse, accessories and even the hair color make it a perfect match.

Here we have my problem child of the evening. I love Miley Cyrus, I really do. And I also love her styles. It is not for nothing that I made a Style Check for her some time ago. But this dress.. uff.
She looked stunning, because she is such a natural beauty, but this dress...?! I don't dig animal prints although I'm not sure if this is really planned as an animal print. But that's how it looks - a silver tiger. Combined with MANY bracelets. Well.. not really happy with it, but it's Miley and it's not bad. I'm pretty sure she will compensate for that in 2 weeks.

I don't like Mya but I love that dress. She also doesn't wear it good, but the dress is still beautiful. And that's why I don't have anything else to say now.

Okay these were the good ones. Now we have to take a look at those who looked ridiculous or just boring. I'll make it a bit shorter now because there are many many many dresses that I dislike.

1) Adrienne Lau: ?! C'mon, what's that? It looks a bit like "At the top we had so much material left, but at the bottom we were suddenly running out.. and then we just stuck a few stripes so it's not too short."
2) Aleesia: I don't know her, but she looks really beautiful. Means she's a really beautiful woman that deserves a better dress! As I already said, I dislike animal prints and what are these golden things? Just spots?!
3) Anna Nalick: ??? I LOVE hoop skirts and dresses/skirts that are this wide but what is this? Especially the top?

1) Bar Refaeli: Uhm, nice try, but fail.
2) Crystal Bowersox: Too massive if you ask me. Way too much material that just falls down because it has nothing better to do. Additionally just one lonely color. No, thanks.
3) Gram'ma Funk: Sry but: Lol! I don't even want to say anymore. No wait - I CAN'T say anything more.

1) Hayley Williams: Oh, please.. red + pink? + black sequins? No. Just no.
2) Katy Perry: Is that plastic? I mean I love angel wings, but no.. not like this.
3) LeAnn Rimes: Boring. Just boring.

1) Margaret Cho: I like the lower part, but the top? Looks like they were running out of ideas. Not to mention that I dislike it to the colorful tattoos. And has she even seen a hairdresser? Not gonna lie, that's how my hair looks like when I come out of bed.
2) Natasha Bedingfield: Well.. no. Just no. When I looked at this dress first I kinda liked it. 5 seconds later I realized I don't.
3) Nicki Minaj: UGH! Animal print en MASSE! UGGH! And the pink lipstick?! Stay away from me. Bai.

1) Ricky Martin: I like him. I really do. I also like his music. And I know he's gay. But that's all no reason to wear pants like THAT. And the shoes? Oh well..
2) Selma Blair: Mh, is she pregnant? Her tummy looks bit like that. But uh yeah it's about dresses! Even when you're pregnant you can wear a cool dress, don't you? No excuse for that.
3) Snooki: ... it's Snooki. Do I have to say more? When you're a running metre you can't wear dresses that are half as short as you are. Except your name is Eva Longoria. She can do everything. But Snooki isn't. And to wear everything in the same color is boring. And in this case it's too much glitter. And too many bracelets. And everywhere these ribbons. Gosh.

1) Adam Lambert: Looks like Bill from Tokio Hotel. Ugh. The outfit is also very uhm...
2) Beyoncé: To me this is just: No. It's probably because of her hair.
3) Ciara: Eeks? I have to say this is something I've never seen before. So it has a positive thing, but that's all. It reminds me of something but I just can't tell what it is. Anyways, I don't like this dress.

1) Dianna Agron: Boo is that boring!?
2)+3) Florence Welch: First I only saw it from behind and thought it's kinda cool and probably looks good from front but then I saw a picture and changed my mind. The lower part is really really cool but the arms and the top - no.

1) Frida Giannini: Boo, boring.
2) Lady Gaga in Egg: Simply ridiculous, isn't it? As I already said on Twitter: She has to do this to get attention. Nobody would notice her if not.
3) Lady Gaga on stage: Even worse. Is that a raincoat? Plastic? Ew.

1) Heidi Klum: I looove Heidi! But this dress?! It's just.. gold. And her hair is kinda gold too. And that's so boring. I expected a bit more from her.
2) Janelle Monae: I don't know. I don't agree with this outfit. Can't really tell why. It's not bad, just not my style.
3) Jennifer Hudson: I like the bottom. That's a pretty cool fashion but the top ruins it completely. Still not sure if I like the color.

1) Jewel: Booring! But I like the purse.
2) Jennifer Lopez: No. Reminds me too much of Snookis dress.
3) Julianne Hough: Wow. Too colorful. Hectic much. Dislike.

1) Kim Kardashian: Like Heidi. Too much gold. The style also seems very 0815. I've seen this million times I guess.
2) Lea Michele: Oh gawd. Too much lace. Too much black. Weird style.
3) Mario Lopez: Boring. Nothing more to say.

1)+2) Miranda Lambert: Before & After. Both times very boring.
3) Monica: The same here as with Jenna Ushkowitz: I'd love to see it in a shoot.

1) Paz Vega: Eeks? No thanks.
2) Rihanna: As much as I love fluffy things: This goes too far. It is kinda cool, but on the other hand maybe too cool.
3) Sara Bareilles: Boring.

1) Selena Gomez: I love Selena. So much. But this dress is ugh. Looks like plastic. Ew.
2) Tia Carrere: Woah. Green? Like that? And then this dead animal there? (Sure not a real fur, but bah?) It absolutely doesn't fit the outfit.
3) Willow Smith: I'm against these kiddie stars. I actually really hate it. No matter if your father is Will Smith. And this outfit is as well.. no. She's 10yrs old. No need for that.

Wow, we're done with the red carpet. And I'm done with the world now.
If you're one of my male readers you probably will only now start to read - so hi you & welcome to the nominees/winners!

A lot of surprises for me actually. Not only because of the nominees but even more because of the winners.

Lady Antebellum: Need you now is Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Country Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals & Best Country Song. I loved that song from the first listen but I was surprised though because I didn't know it is so popular? Their album, also named Need you now, is additionally Best Country Album. Wow. Just wow! Apparently they're muy famous in America? Love them and I'm happy!

Lady Gaga: Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, Best Pop Vocal Album & Best Short Form Music Video.
Why do I even mention her? Because I can't understand it. That's why. If you ask me (I know, nobody does) she doesn't deserve anything. For what? Do you guys know the story of this girl that committed suicide a few years ago and actually was what Gaga is now? They worked together and Gaga seemed to be a different person til that girl died and Gaga took her personality or whatever. Well, never mind. I dislike Gaga in all ways and I'm really really pissed because she got the Grammy for Pop Album of the year although John Mayer was nominated as well and deserved it way more. Jaja, I praise him whenever I can and I'm always right! I even would have preferred Justin Bieber getting it instead of Gaga.

John Mayer: Because I was talking about him anyways: Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical. At least one.

Eminem: Best Rap Solo Performance & Best Rap Album - I'm so proud! I don't know how many of you know that, but I'm a fan of Eminem since I'm 12. No lie. I've been with him through all goods & bads and he never disappoints me. To hear his voice is like balm for my soul. Babble, babble - he deserves them!

Arcade Fire: Album Of The Year - who the hell are they? I'm not kidding - I never heard of them before, til I saw them yesterday at the show. And when I heard them playing I was even more surprised. They sound so shitty. I checked some random lyrics, they're boring. What the hell is so special about that album? It seems quite lame. And especially when we take a look at the other nominees:
Eminem - Recovery
Katy Perry - Teenage Dream
Lady Gaga - The Fame Monster
Lady Antebellum - Need You Now

We already figured out that Lady Antebellum seem very popular - so how could they lose against a NONAME Band? Or Eminem? Recovery is not his best album but it's still good and of course better than Arcade Fire! Even Katy's album is pretty pretty cool.
I like to believe that the whole world or rather those who watched it went quiet for a second when they announced who won.
When we check Last.fm we can see that they actually already had many fans before they won. It's just that nobody else cares about them.
They simply don't deserve a GRAMMY. They can have a low prize like the Bravo Otto or whatever....

What else was important to me: Country Awards!!! Let's take a look!

Best Female Country Vocal Performance
Miranda Lambert won it with "The House That Built Me"
Dislike. I wanted Carrie Underwood to win with "Temporary Home". I love Carrie. No actually I adore her. And Temporary Home is one of my all-time-fave's so...

Best Male Country Vocal Performance
Keith Urban with "'Til summer comes around"
YES!!! YES YES YES!!!
Those who know me know that we're talking about my favorite favorite song! And my probably most loved artist!

Best Country Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals
As already mentioned: Lady Antebellum won with "Need You Know" - but I actually wanted Zac Brown Band to win with "Free"! Muy loved song.

Best Country Collaboration With Vocals
But Zac Brown Band got this one for "As she's walking away (feat. Alan Jackson)". Also a very very good song! Really in love with it!

Best Country Song
Lady Antebellum - Need you now
I don't dislike it because it is a really good song but "Free" lost again here and that's what I dislike.

Best Country Album
And again I would have preferred Zac Brown Band to win than Lady Antebellum. Simply because I'm a bigger Zac Brown Fan. But I said before I'm happy for Lady Antebellum though!

I just found out that Jackson Browne lost to Ray LaMontagne at Best Contemporary Folk Album. Not sure if I should dislike that. I haven't listened to Ray in ages but do love Jackson very muy much. Well..

Okay, what else to tell. Live acts.
I missed the beginning of the show. I tuned in when Gaga was on stage so I don't know what happened before.
Gaga's performance sucked muchly!! Her new song is ew & the performance was soooo boring. Is she always like that on stage? I expected a bit more from somebody like her who's actually an attention-whore.
Next act was Miranda Lambert with her nominated single. I'm not a huge fan of her but I liked the performance. It's a nice song.
Then came Muse. I don't want to say Muse are a bad band. They have some cool songs but imho they're really over hyped. But the performance was awesome. I really liked it with these stories on the screens and the actors on stage. That was pretty amazing!
Bruno Mars, B.o.B and Janelle Monae were the next act. They performed their songs all together in a row. That was really really cool. I also have to say that I like Bruno Mars very much. He seems like a nice and cool guy and has some amazingly beautiful lyrics. It's just his music. I don't know. Sometimes I can listen to him, sometimes I can't. I hope he's going to be a big musician. And by that I don't mean like Gaga or Bieber with just being hyped. I mean being a musician.
Then we had Bieber performing. I muted. I'm sorry haha. But I know Jaden Smith came on stage too to perform with Justin together.

I actually wanted to skip all the winners coming on stage but then came Gaga. Ridiculous. Outfit sucked much and then she was talking the shittiest shit ever. I'm sorry for these words but there are no others to describe it. Something about she imagined Whitney Houston to sing Born This Way when she wrote it. Kind of an insult when you think of how bad the song is. I also read something that Gaga wrote it in 10minutes. So she wasn't thinking that long of Whitney.

Then came the highlight of the evening. Bob Dylan! With The Avett Brothers & Mumford and Sons. AMAZING! I really enjoyed it. I didn't understand anything Bob was singing, but that's how it goes right? No surprise. :)
After that Lady Antebellum came on stage performing a medley of their songs. I liked it!
Followed by Cee Lo Green. Omg that was terrible. I'm sorry. I don't dig that guy. And the performance was so awful. Ugh.
Katy Perry came next. She started with Not Like The Movies if I remember right. Muted soon.
Trio on stage then! John Mayer, Norah Jones & Keith Urban singing "Jolene" by Dolly Parton together! AWESOME! I need a recording of that performance!
Another trio: Rihanna, Eminem & Dr Dre on stage. BLAST! Loved it!
Christina Aguilera next - muted.
Special moment then! Mick Jagger! His FIRST Grammy performance ever! And he ruled the stage! Not only everyone in the hall was clapping and dancing with him - no me too!! No lie!! Haha amazing :)
Next then were Rihanna & Drake. Muted.
Arcade Fire came on stage then. Terrible.
Arcade Fire received the award and played another song while everyone was leaving. Terrible again.

And that's it!
Did any of you watched it? Any agrees/disagrees?

Love you. :)
